Area Service Committee (ASC)

The Area Service Committee (ASC) includes Group Service Representatives (GSR), elected Officers, and Subcommittee Chairpersons who meet monthly. The ASC does most of the work in NA so that the NA groups can focus on their primary purpose, delivering the message to the still-suffering addict.

Meeting Schedule: The Area Service Committee (ASC) meets on the 4th Sunday of each month at 5:30 PM. New GSR orientation starts at 5:00 PM.

Ad-Hoc: Best Practices

Best Practices ad-hoc subcommittee for discussion on developing recommendations and best practices for in-person meetings as we move through Washington State COVID-19 phases.

Meeting Schedule:
The Ad-Hoc: Best Practices Subcommittee has completed its goal and no longer meets.

Activities

Activities Subcommittee organizes dances, picnics, speaker meetings and special events. These activities help to provide a greater sense of unity for the NA Fellowship in our area.

Meeting Schedule:
The Activities Subcommittee now meets on the 3rd Sunday of each month, at 9:00 AM. This meeting is held at the Recovery Garage, 230 1st St NE, WA, Auburn, WA 98002. There is no Zoom option at this time.

Directories

The Directories subcommittee was removed during the May 2021 ASC, since the meeting schedule is now automatically generated. The printing  of paper meeting schedules is now a duty of the ASC Secretary, and are to be made available at the monthly Literature distribution.

Hospitals & Institutions (H&I)

The Hospitals and Institutions (H&I) Subcommittee exists to carry the message of recovery from addiction to facilities whose residents are restricted from full access to regular Narcotics Anonymous meetings.

Meeting Schedule:
The Hospitals & Institutions (H&I) Subcommittee meets on the 4th Sunday of each month, at 9:30 AM. The meeting is held at the Recovery Garage, 230 1st St NE, WA, Auburn, WA 98002.

Orientation: Starts at 11:00 AM on the same day at the same location.

Helpline

The Helpline subcommittee, at the area level, establishes, maintains and coordinates an effective 24-hour, seven day a week answering service. * Orientation begins at 11:00 AM.

Meeting Schedule:
The Helpline Subcommittee meets on the Last Sunday of each month, at 10:30 AM. The meeting is held online on Zoom:

Literature

The Literature Subcommittee provides access to NA Literature, and Meeting Schedules, for the Area groups on a monthly basis.

Public Relations (PR)

The Public Relations (PR) Subcommittee aims to serve as the link between NA and the general public. The Subcommittee will be responsible for establishing contact with all organizations, agencies, educational institutions, businesses, groups, or individuals who, through their contact with active drug users and/or the general public, can help to create awareness of NA, its program, purpose, and availability.

The Public Relations (PR) Subcommittee meets on the 2nd Sunday of each month, at 5:30 PM. The meeting is held at the Recovery Garage, 230 1st St NE, WA, Auburn, WA 98002.

Web Services

The Web Services Subcommittee’s purpose is to maintain a website that provides information about the South King County Area and Narcotics Anonymous as a whole, made available to the public (addicts and non-addicts) who might need NA, and to our current members.

Meeting Schedule:
Web Services currently does not have a dedicated meeting day/time. Web Services members conduct correspondence via email.

The Web Services Subcommittee meets on the 2nd Thursday of each month, at 7:00 PM. The meeting is held at the Manhattan Community Center, 18300 4th Avenue South, Burien, WA 98148.

Other Subcommittees

Beyond service committees, our area also has many other subcommittees that plan and host entertainment and fundraising events. These subcommittees are a way to get involved that offer creative, challenging and learning opportunities.

Day of the Dinosaurs (DOD)

Day of the Dinosaurs (DOD) is an all day WNIRCNA fundraising event held annually. It formed it’s name by hosting Speakers with 20+ years clean, referred to as ‘NA Dinosaurs’.

Meeting Schedule:
The DOD Subcommittee is not currently meeting at this time.

Men’s Retreat

SKCNA Men’s Retreat is a mens only weekend retreat held in the greater Washington area annually.

Meeting Schedule:
The Men’s Retreat Subcommittee meeting is moving to the 4th Wednesday of each month, at 6:00 PM, and will no longer be meeting at Trotter’s Restuarant, 825 Harvey Rd, Auburn, WA 98002. New meeting location TBD please email mensretreat@skcna.org for more information.

Strength Among Spirtual Sisters (S.A.S.S.)

S.A.S.S. Retreat is a women’s only weekend retreat held in the greater Washington area annually.

Meeting Schedule:
The Strength Among Spiritual Sisters (S.A.S.S.) Subcommittee meets on the 3rd Sunday of each month, at 3:00 PM. The meeting is held at the Recovery Garage, 230 1st St NE, Auburn, WA 98002.

Winter Winners

Winter Winners was formed in 1983 by the South King Area and Pierce County Area of Narcotics Anonymous. It is a celebration of staying clean through the holiday season, which as many of us are aware, is often difficult for recovering addicts. Winter Winners helps further our primary purpose by building unity among the Fellowship of NA within the South King Area and Pierce County Area.

Meeting Schedule:
The Winter Winners Subcommittee meets on the 3rd Sunday of each month, at 9:00 AM. The meeting is held at the Poodle Dog Restaurant, 1522 54th Ave E, Fife, WA 98424.

Young at Heart Convention of NA (YAHCNA)

The ‘Young at Heart Convention of Narcotics Anonymous’ is a convention geared towards supporting young people in recovery.

Meeting Schedule:
The Young at Heart Convention Committee is not meeting at this time.
